Skills represent all the various abilities that the character is capable of performing, such as wielding weapons, casting spells picking locks or disarming traps. The player choose the character’s skills at the start of the game during Character Creation, and additional skills can be acquired at each level-up. Furthermore, the character learn skills from trainers who may offer to teach skills for a fee, or from skill books that will grant a skill or advance it upon being read. The more points are assigned to a particular skill, the better the character will be at performing the associated actions.

Alchemy Edit

Alchemy is a skill that allows the character to mix ingredients to produce potions as well as to imbue weapons and armor.

Arcane skills Edit

Arcane skills, consisting of Divination Arcane and Elemental Arcane, allow the character to learn and cast spells.

Armor skillsEdit

Armor skills are a group of skills that govern the character's ability to gain protection from different types of armor. These include Light Armor, Heavy Armor and Shields.

Cartography Edit

Cartography is a skill that allows the character record a map of the game world as they explore.

Combat skills Edit

Combat skills are a group of skills that govern the character's ability to deal physical damage, either unarmed or using a weapon. These include Unarmed Combat, Bludgeoning Weapons, Bows, Cleaving Weapons, Piercing Weapons (Short-Bladed Weapons in Book I), Swords and Thrown Weapons.

Dodge Edit

Dodge is a skill that allows the character avoid being hit by attacks.

Foraging Edit

Foraging is a skill that reduces the depletion rate of the Hunger and Thirst bars, and allows the character to gather Alchemy reagents while exploring.

Hide in Shadows Edit

Move Silently is a skill that allows the character to remain undetected by nearby enemies and NPCs.

Lore Edit

Lore is a skill that, combining with Intelligence, allows the character to identify valuable items that would otherwise show up as "Unknown."

Medicine (Survival) Edit

Medicine in Book II and Book III, or Survival in Book I, is a skill that combines with Endurance to determine the rate at which Hit Points recover.

Meditation Edit

Meditation is a skill that combines with Perception to determine the rate at which Mana Points recover.

Mercantile Edit

Mercantile is a skill that allows the character to make better deals when buying items from merchants or selling items to them.
