Armor is a category of items that the player character can equip to protect themselves from harm. Armor is classified as either Light Armor or Heavy Armor, with each class being further divided into head armor, torso armor, hand armor, cloaks, belts, leg armor, and foot armor.
The player character can equip any piece of armor, but using them effectively requires appropriate skills. Wearing a piece of armor that the player character is not sufficiently skilled in (i.e. for which the player does not have at least one skill point allocated) incurs an Unskilled Armor Penalty of -30% Natural Armor Rating.
Armor is made from different types of leather or metal, and can possess magical modifications. A piece of armor's armor rating is determined by its material. Armor can be found in chests around the game world, looted from certain fallen enemies, or bought from blacksmiths.
